I develop games as a passion, not as a job.

G'day! I'm Andrew, a Unity-loving code-monkey from Brisbane, Australia. I have worked with Unity for over a decade to create amazing experiences for humans. My career goal is to be able to work with a small group of friends, making the games that we want without worrying about finances.

I began my journey in 2006 when I picked up Game Maker 6.0 in High School. All I could do back then was use visual scripting to move a dot up, down, left, and right. I absolutely fell in love with making things move with words. I slowly started to learn how to use GML (Game Maker Language) and once I was confident enough (many years later) in my own ability, I started steaming my game development on Twitch. This was my first interaction with the game dev community and I was hooked deeper. I met a life-long friend during my development, David (icch_howw), a German guy with the same passion. Being able to speak to people all across the world about game development, and our own experiences was the push I needed to start considering Game Development as a career. But it wouldn't be fully realised until many years later, just how hard that is the achieve. Around 2012, David was moving over to use Unity Engine 4, and urged me to take a look at it.

Fast forward to 2023, I have completed a few small commission works for streamers on Twitch and have made a few prototypes, but no games I would be proud enough to release. I also attended the Queensland Games Festival 2023, and it was there I learnt about the Screen Queensland Residency Program. When I got home I immediately went onto the Screen Queensland website and applied for the 2024 Residency. I was accepted and went through the application process, and started developing games full-time from February 2024.

I can't thank Screen Queensland enough for all the help they have given to not just me, but all developers they have interacted with. Because of them, and the other amazing humans behind Carrot Commotion, I have a game that I am proud to release into the world. I am now developing full-time, and I couldn't be happier!
